Tackling the clutter in your home can be daunting enough to bring you to your knees. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by what seems to be an insurmountable task. But when your motivation is making your home into an organized, peaceful place you can be proud of, the need to come up with a plan to accomplish your goal becomes very important. This is the space you live in, where you raise your family, where you entertain your friends. It’s time to make it start working for you.

The most effective way to start the process of decluttering your home is to make a plan. Fortunately that’s already been done for you. Here are a few simple steps to get you where you want to go.
1. Appraise. Take a good look around at what needs to be done. Focus on specific areas you really want to get in order.
2. List. Ask yourself what areas most bother you and prioritize them by importance to everyday function.
3. Set A Goal. Give yourself a timeframe to accomplish one area at a time and set a schedule for completion.
Now it’s time to get to work. Focus on the first area on your list as if it’s the only area on your list. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You’d be surprised how many friends will be on board to help you out. Especially when you are willing to reciprocate.
Clutter and procrastination go hand in hand. You’ll find that it’s harder to get started than it is to keep going. So it’s time to stop researching how to declutter your home and get to it. The sense of accomplishment after the first task will give you the motivation you need to tackle the next.
